“More power to her elbow” as we say here in Ulster. Good for her and her family for standing up for their Christian rights in this instance. While I partly would agree with the school on the jewellery issue, I think she probably will have a reasonable case given it’s not just jewellery for the sake of it, and ultimately other faiths have jewellery they probably do get to wear without hassle. However, the school no doubt will be concerned that if she is allowed to wear this ring, regardless of the message and ethos behind it, it could open up the door for other faiths to equally wear yet more elaborate statements of their faith too, and in some respects the school isn’t the place to have faith competitions. Tough call on the judge, and we can but pray the Lord will give him wisdom to grant the right ruling on it. However, I think there are more important issues than this for Christians currently to be taking a moral stand on – very few seem willing to get up and make similar statements over more important debates as we’ve seen recently. The Christian Institute will no doubt be active in Lydia’s case to assist with the legal expenses as they’ve done this for other similar cases when requested. Blessings, TKR
