Reflections on Lent: 3 of many
February 11, 2008
I love Easter, it has always been a significant spiritual marker in my life. I was baptized the week after Easter 8 years ago. I participated in lent for the first time my sophomore year in college. I love that Easter and lent give us a glimpse of the painful journey and sacrifice that Christ made for us. Lent allows us to fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, removing the focus off ourselves and look to him as our Only One. The Only one who can save us, from ourselves, from this life and redeem us. There is so much about this time of year that I love because of the richness of the meaning of Easter, Lent and everything this season brings, spiritually, as well as the Springtime and new life. One song I was thinking about that really expresses some of this is Lead Me to the Cross by Brooke Fraser.
Lead Me to the Cross:
lead me to the cross where Your love poured out bring me to my knees Lord i lay me down rid me of myself I belong to You O lead me lead me to the cross
Brooke talks about it briefly here:
