Important Conversations
I had a conversation yesterday with a friend I hadn’t seen in a while. I caught her up on my life the past couple months and she was really sad for “my loss”. I assured her that I’m doing well, I have eternal hope and joy from Christ. I’ve had several conversations this weekend and I love having those conversations, why is it that we never have enough time for the important conversations, and we are always going and going, but really all I want to do is spend time with friends and have those important conversations. The one on one conversations I have are always so important to me. As a camp counselor it was my favorite part, a chance to ask questions about spiritual significance and pray for them and get to know them deeply. I love having those opportunities to let my roots down into one another, drawing from the depths of our hearts, in honesty, in humility, as we seek to challenge and encourage one another. Oh, how I pray for more of these conversations.
In Colossians Paul says, “And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him.” (2:6) Paul goes on to tell us how we can continue to follow Christ, to pursue him, chase after his heart:
Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness. Colossians 2:7
Allow the power of Christ to work in you, in your life, to grow, and mature. I love this concept of a tree and deep roots, drawing from Christ, building up and growing and growing, into more of his likeness. I have a little tree drawn in my Bible to mark this verse, to remind me where it is that I draw my strength, my love, my joy, my hope from.
I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. Ephesians 3:16-17
I pray for important conversations to continue, and for more and more to chase after God, to get caught in his marvelous love.

So, I read Ephesians 3:14-20 and I was about to write a blog on it, but I decided I would search for an awesome picture of tree roots, and I came across your blog.
Very encouraging and full of truth. Continue writing knowing God is using you.
